Course Type

Equipment operating.

Course Purpose

• This course is for a student whom is experienced and competent with operating Rough Terrain Forklift or a Telehandler (Industrial Lift Truck - Class 7).
• Also known as a "rough terrain forklift", "zoom boom", "variable reach forklift", "telescopic reach forklift".

Skill Level

Experienced Operator.

Training Method

In-person.

Class Size

2 - 10 students.

Training Duration

4 - 8 hours (depending on student's skill and knowledge).

Training Locations

1. Calgary Region: In-person training at the customer's workplace.
2. Metro-Vancouver Region: In-person training at the customer's workplace.

Customer Requirements

Customer supplied equipment and load for practical lessons.

Student Requirements

1. Has a training certificate that is current, or has just expired within 30 days from the expiry date shown on the certificate.
2. Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (provided by student):
1. PPE as per the training location requirements.
2. Safety boots, hard hat, high visibility vest/jacket/overall.

Training Certification

Digital training card as proof of training, includes hyperlinked class photos and course material. Valid for 3 years.

Theory Lessons

1. Reference to applicable OHS Regulations (Federal, Provincial).
2. Reference to applicable CSA Standards.
3. Operator responsibilities.
4. Safe approach limits to energized equipment and power lines.

Documentation Lessons

1. Completing a Hazard & Risk Assessment.
2. Completing a pre-use inspection checklist.

Practical Lessons

1. Inspecting the Telehandler and surrounding work area.
2. Safe load securement.
3. Operating the Telehandler and communicating with a spotter.
4. Attaching and removing lifting accessories.
5. Replacing a propane cylinder (if equipped).
6. Fuelling the equipment (diesel, gasoline).
