Course Type: Equipment operating
Course Purpose
This course is for a student whom has zero or minimal experience operating a Scissor Lift (Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platform).
Skill Level: Novice Operator
Training Method: In person.
Class Size: 2 - 8 students
Training Duration: 6 - 8 hours (depending on student's skill and knowledge).
Training Locations
Calgary Region: In person training at the customer's workplace.
Vancouver Region: In person training at the customer's workplace.
Vancouver Island Region: In person training at the customer's workplace.
Customer Requirements
Customer supplied aerial scissor lift.
Student Requirements
- Be the minimum age for the worksite.
- Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (provided by student):
- PPE as per the training location requirements.
- Safety boots, hard hat, high visibility vest/jacket/overall.

Training Certification
Digital training card as proof of training, includes hyperlinked class photos and course material. Valid for 3 years.

Course Price
Private Group Class: $1,500.00 (minimum charge of 6 students)
Additional Students: $250.00 per student
Extra Costs: Out of town travel when applicable.

- Reference to applicable OHS Regulations (Federal, Provincial).
- Reference to applicable CSA Standards.
- Operator responsibilities.
- Manufacturer specifications for the equipment being trained on.
- Hazard and Risk Assessment for operating the equipment safely in the workplace.
- Safe operating procedures.
- Safe approach limits to energized equipment and power lines.
- Hand signals and working with a spotter.
- Equipment purpose and limitations.
- Equipment stability.
- Equipment preventive maintenance practices.
- Equipment inspection criteria.
- Equipment transport.
- Emergency lowering procedures.
- Rescue planning.
Documentation Lessons
- Completing a Hazard & Risk Assessment.
- Completing a pre-use inspection report.
Practical Lessons
- Inspecting the Scissor Lift and surrounding work area.
- Operating the Scissor Lift and communicating with a spotter.
- Use of personal fall protection equipment.
- Executing an emergency lowering of the Scissor Lift's platform.
- Executing the rescue of a worker from the Scissor Lift's platform.
- Replacing a propane cylinder (if equipped).
- Charging the battery pack (if equipped).
- Fuelling the equipment (if equipped - diesel, gasoline).
