Course Type

Equipment operating.

Course Purpose

• This course is for a worker whom has minimal experience or is new to operating a Skidsteer.
• Also known as a "bobcat".

Skill Level

Novice Operator.

Training Method

In-person.

Class Size

2 - 8 students.

Training Duration

6 - 8 hours (depending on student's skill and knowledge).

Training Locations

1. Calgary Region: In-person training at the customer's workplace.
2. Metro-Vancouver Region: In-person training at the customer's workplace.

Customer Requirements

Customer supplied equipment and load for practical lessons.

Student Requirements

Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (provided by student):

1. PPE as per the training location requirements.
2. Safety boots, hard hat, high visibility vest/jacket/overall.

Training Certification

Digital training card as proof of training, includes hyperlinked class photos and course material. Valid for 3 years.

Theory Lessons

1. Applicable OHS Regulations (Federal, Provincial).
2. Applicable CSA Standards.
3. Operator responsibilities.
4. Manufacturer specifications for the equipment being trained on.
5. Hazard and Risk Assessment for operating the equipment safely in the workplace.
6. Safe operating procedures.
7. Hand signals and working with a spotter.
8. Equipment purpose and limitations.
9. Equipment stability.
10. Equipment preventive maintenance practices.
11. Equipment inspection criteria.
12. Equipment transport.

Documentation Lessons

1. Completing a Hazard & Risk Assessment.
2. Completing a pre-use inspection checklist.

Practical Lessons

1. Inspecting the Skidsteer and surrounding work area.
2. Safe load securement (when using pallet forks).
3. Safe grading practices (when using shovel).
4. Operating the Skidsteer and communicating with a spotter.
5. Attaching and removing lifting accessories.
6. Fuelling the equipment (diesel, gasoline).
