Equipment operating.

Course Purpose

This course is for a worker whom is experienced and competent with operating a Boom Lift (Self-Propelled Boom Supported Elevating Work Platform).

Skill Level

Experienced operator.

Training Method

In-person.

Class Size

2 - 10 students.

Training Duration

4 - 8 hours (depending on student's skill and knowledge).

Training Locations

1. Calgary Region: In-person training at the customer's workplace.
2. Metro-Vancouver Region: In-person training at the customer's workplace.

Customer Requirements

1. Customer supplied aerial boom lift.
2. Personal fall protection (harness and lanyard) for each student.

Student Requirements

1. Has an aerial boom lift training certificate that is current, or has just expired within 30 days from the expiry date shown on the certificate.
2. Have current Fall Protection (Harness & Lanyard) training.
3. Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (provided by student):
1. PPE as per the training location requirements.
2. Safety boots, hard hat, high visibility vest/jacket/overall.
3. Personal fall protection (harness & lanyard). 

Training Certification

Digital training card as proof of training, includes hyperlinked class photos and course material. Valid for 3 years.

Theory Lessons

1. Applicable OHS Regulations (Federal, Provincial).
2. Applicable CSA Standards.
3. Operator responsibilities.
4. Safe operating procedures.
5. Safe approach limits to energized equipment and power lines.
6. Rescue planning.

Practical Lessons

1. Inspecting the Boom Lift and surrounding work area.
2. Operating the Boom Lift and communicating with a spotter.
3. Use of personal fall protection equipment.
4. Executing an emergency lowering of the Boom Lift's platform.
5. Executing the rescue of a worker from the Boom Lift's platform.
6. Replacing a propane cylinder (if equipped).
7. Charging the battery pack (if equipped).
8. Fuelling the equipment (if equipped - diesel, gasoline).
