Course Type

Equipment operating.

Course Purpose

This course is for a worker whom is experienced and competent with operating a Forklift (Industrial Lift Truck - Class 1, 4, 5).

Skill Level

Experienced Operator.

Training Method

In-person.

Class Size

2 - 10 students.

Training Duration

4 - 8 hours (depending on student's skill and knowledge).

Training Locations

1. Calgary Region: In-person training at the customer's workplace.
2. Metro-Vancouver Region: In-person training at the customer's workplace.

Customer Requirements

Customer supplied equipment and load for practical lessons.

Student Requirements

1. Has a training certificate that is current, or has just expired within 30 days from the expiry date shown on the certificate.
2. Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (provided by student):
1. PPE as per the training location requirements.
2. Safety boots, hard hat, high visibility vest/jacket/overall.

Training Certification

Digital training card as proof of training, includes hyperlinked class photos and course material. Valid for 3 years.

Theory Lessons

1. Applicable OHS Regulations (Federal, Provincial).
2. Applicable CSA Standards.
3. Operator responsibilities.
4. Safe approach limits to energized equipment and power lines.

Practical Lessons

1. Inspecting the Forklift and surrounding work area.
2. Safe load securement.
3. Operating the Forklift and communicating with a spotter.
4. Attaching and removing lifting accessories.
5. Replacing a propane cylinder (if equipped).
6. Charging the battery pack (if equipped).
7. Fuelling the equipment (if equipped - diesel, gasoline).

• Class 1 Lift Code 1. Electric motor rider trucks: counterbalanced rider, stand-up.
• Class 1 Lift Code 4. Electric motor rider trucks: three wheel electric trucks, sit-down.
• Class 1 Lift Code 5. Electric motor rider truck: counterbalanced rider, cushion tires, sit-down.
• Class 1 Lift Code 6. Electric motor rider trucks: counterbalanced rider, pneumatic tire, sit-down.
• Class 4 Lift Code 3. Internal combustion engine trucks: fork, counterbalanced (cushion tire).
• Class 5 Lift Code 4. Internal combustion engine trucks: Pneumatic tires only, forks, counterbalanced, pneumatic tire.
