Course Type:  Equipment operating

Course Purpose

This course is for a student whom has zero or minimal experience operating a Narrow Aisle Forklift (Industrial Lift Truck - Class 2).

Also known as an Order Picker.

Skill Level:  Novice Operator

Training Method:  In person.

Class Size:  2 - 8 students

Training Duration:  6 - 8 hours (depending on student's skill and knowledge).

Training Locations

Calgary Region:  In person training at the customer's workplace.

Vancouver Region:  In person training at the customer's workplace.

Vancouver Island Region:  In person training at the customer's workplace.

Customer Requirements

Student Requirements

  1. Be the minimum age for the worksite.
  2. Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (provided by student):
    1. PPE as per the training location requirements.
    2. Safety boots, hard hat, high visibility vest/jacket/overall.

Course Literature

Accessible with our mobile application.

Training Certification

Digital training card as proof of training, includes hyperlinked class photos and course material. Valid for 3 years.

Course Price

Private Group Class: $1,500.00 (minimum charge of 6 students)

Additional Students: $250.00 per student

Extra Costs: Out of town travel when applicable.

 

Theory Lessons

  1. Reference to applicable OHS Regulations (Federal, Provincial).
  2. Reference to applicable CSA Standards.
  3. Operator responsibilities.
  4. Manufacturer specifications for the equipment being trained on.
  5. Hazard and Risk Assessment for operating the equipment safely in the workplace.
  6. Safe operating procedures.
  7. Hand signals and working with a spotter.
  8. Equipment purpose and limitations.
  9. Equipment stability.
  10. Equipment preventive maintenance practices.
  11. Equipment inspection criteria.
  12. Equipment transport.


Documentation Lessons

  1. Completing a Hazard & Risk Assessment.
  2. Completing a pre-use inspection report.

 

Practical Lessons

  1. Inspecting the Narrow Aisle Forklift and surrounding work area.
  2. Safe load securement.
  3. Operating the Narrow Aisle Forklift and communicating with a spotter.
  4. Attaching and removing lifting accessories.
  5. Charging the battery pack.

  • Lift Code 1. Electric motor narrow aisle trucks: high lift straddle.
  • Lift Code 2. Electric motor narrow aisle trucks: order picker.
  • Lift Code 3. Electric motor narrow aisle trucks: reach type outrigger.
  • Lift Code 4. Electric motor narrow aisle trucks: sideloaders, platfrom, high lift pallet, turret trucks.
  • Lift Code 6. Electric motor narrow aisle trucks: low lift pallet platform, low lift pallet.
