Course Type:  Safety Training

Course Purpose

This course is for a student whom works on a system that is de-energized and isolated from hazardous energy and is required to apply their personal lock to the lockout device.

Skill Level:  Level 1

Training Method:  In person.

Class Size:  3 - 12 students

Training Duration:  6 - 8 hours (depending on student's skill and knowledge).

Training Locations

Calgary Region:  In person training at the customer's workplace.

Vancouver Region:  In person training at our Surrey training facility or at the customer's workplace.

Vancouver Island Region:  In person training at the customer's workplace.

 

Student Requirements

  1. Be the minimum age for the worksite.
  2. Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (provided by student):
    1. PPE as per the training location requirements.
    2. Safety boots, hard hat, high visibility vest/jacket/overall.

Training Certification

Digital training card as proof of training, includes hyperlinked class photos and course material. Valid for 3 years.

Course Price

Private Group Class: $2,000.00 (minimum charge of 8 students).

Additional Students: $250.00 per student.

Drop-In Class: $250.00 per student.

Extra Costs: Mobilization fee for private group class scheduled at the customer's workplace.

Extra Costs: Out of town travel when applicable.

  3. Responsibilities for the Worker and Supervisor.
  4. Types of hazardous energy.
  5. Workplace safety around hazardous energy.
  6. Purpose for Lockout Tagout.
  7. Lockout Tagout processes and methodology.
  8. Process for removing an abandoned personal lock.
  9. Types of isolation devices.


Documentation Lessons

  1. Completing a Hazard & Risk Assessment.
  2. Completing a Lockout Tagout Plan.

 

Practical Lessons

  1. Planning out the de-energization and Lockout Tagout of an energized system.
  2. Application of isolating devices.
  3. Application of personal locks.
  4. De-energizing and locking out an energized system.
